Finds from the Copper Age show that the town of Fiè has been inhabited since the 4th millennium BC. For the first time the municipality is defined as "Fellis" in an act of King Arnulf in the year 888. The prince bishops of Bressanone came to Fiè to enjoy the cool summer weather, the governor Leonhard of Fiè had his official residence at the Prösels Castle.
It was not for its strategic location, that was insignificant, but it was for the mild climate and genuine air which made Fiè a health resort. Around 1910, Dr. Clara examined scientifically the hay baths made by farmers, who made Fiè known as a health resort. In the 19th century merchants from Bolzano chose especially St. Constantine and adjacent areas to the lake of Fiè for their summer holidays.
