Health resort Fiè
The sunny village of Fiè allo Sciliar lies gently nestled between meadows and forests directly under the mighty Sciliar massif. Calmly and without haste, Fiè has evolved from a village of peasants to a health resort. Its guests have enjoyed for more than 100 years the pure water, the fresh air and the good smell of hay. As early as the 19th century, wealthy citizens from the nearby town of Bolzano came to Fiè for the so-called “Sommerfrische” (summer holiday).
The Hotel Emmy in Fiè allo Sciliar is located at an altitude of 880 m at the foot of the Sciliar and is distinguished by its mild climate. As a health resort Fiè allo Sciliar is certainly a popular destination for gourmets and health-conscious, but also sportive vacationers are attracted by different hiking and biking trails. In July 2003, Fiè allo Sciliar was declared a health resort. The small village at the foot of the Sciliar crowned so its decennial efforts in offering a variety of deals for families, health-conscious and connoisseurs.
The Dolomites
In the year 2009 the Dolomites became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The motivation was: "unique, monumental beauty", and it's true. A dream landscape for families, climbers and lovers of nature.
The sublime, monumental and colourful landscapes of the Dolomites have always fascinated tourists in South Tyrol. The majestic cliffs of the Dolomites are made of fossilized coral and limestone containing magnesium. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Dolomites offers around 350 three thousand meter peaks, seven natural parks and a national park, making it a highlight for hikers, bikers and climbers.
A total of nine divisions, including the Nature Park Sciliar-Catinaccio, officially belong to the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Well-known peaks are the Sciliar, the Sassolungo and Sassopiatto, the Three Peaks and the Marmolada.
The Nature Park Sciliar-Catinaccio covers 7,292 hectares and is located in the heart of the western Dolomites in South Tyrol. It includes the towns Castelrotto, Fiè and Tires al Catinaccio and forms a spatial unity with the natural protected area of the Dolomites. The Sciliar with its rock towers Santner and Euringer is the mountain symbol of South Tyrol.
The geological trail of Siusi invites you to travel back in time for 270 million years of development history of the Earth. It's one of the most geologically interesting excursions in the Dolomites.
