Activity programme

Guided outdoor experiences:
We have put together a varied activity programme for nature lovers, hiking enthusiasts and bike fans. Guided bike tours and hikes to some of the most beautiful places in the Sciliar area are offered several times a week and are sure to inspire you.

The lake of Fiè

You can reach this bathing lake on foot directly from the hotel in about half an hour. It is therefore an ideal destination for a short hike. On hot summer days the water has a temperature of about 22°C for cooling off. And if you want a ride rowing, at the lake of Fiè you get a chance to. Legambiente, the largest environmentalist association in Italy, awards the best ecosystems in Italy for many years now. Among the top 5 of the most exemplary bathing lakes we find the small lake of Fiè, which is one of the eight lakes in South Tyrol. Through its intact ecosystem and its excellent quality of the water the lake at the foot of the Sciliar is a popular destination for swimming for the whole family. However, the lake of Fiè is also the starting point for many hikes, for example to the Tuff Alm or the Hofer Alpl and for hiking enthusiasts to the Sciliar, the landmark of South Tyrol and of Fiè allo Sciliar.

Nordic Walking

Nordic Walking is in and pushes recreational athletes and health-conscious people out into nature. Equipped with two ultra-light poles and not much else, it's easier to get around on foot than ever before. Walking stands for moving, Nordic for the Finnish origin of this sport. The beauty of Nordic Walking is that anyone can try it. For athletes, it's a good workout; for the many desk-bound, it's an efficient relief programme.
Let's get out there!

Hiking

For those who come to South Tyrol to walk and hike, the Alpe di Siusi leads you to mythical places, interesting geological features immersed in nature. South Tyrol attracts hikers and climbers from all over the world: easy walks for families, the gourmand can visit the various huts and for the more adventurous the Dolomites are the perfect destination. In the Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park and in the villages of Fiè allo Sciliar, Siusi and Castelrotto, hiking offers unique views and panoramas of the fabulous mountain world. Emmy's guests have a countless choice of hiking possibilities, which are impossible to cover in a single holiday in Fiè allo Sciliar. There is a large selection of hiking trails directly from the hotel, but the Alpe di Siusi is also definitely worth a visit and is therefore called the most beautiful alpine pasture in South Tyrol. Thanks to its central location, the Hotel Emmy is the ideal starting point for hikes in Fiè and the surrounding area, hiking on the Alpe di Siusi but also for hikes in the Catinaccio. The reception team will be happy to advise you.

Mountain bike and e-bike

Those who are on the road with their mountain bike in South Tyrol can choose between easy, medium and extremely demanding bike tours in the Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi bike region. An exploratory tour by bike is also an experience for families: young and old pedal and discover Fiè, Siusi, Castelrotto and the Alpe di Siusi on two wheels. For connoisseurs among mountain bikers, the Alpe di Siusi Hut Tour is a must. The tour combines sporting challenge with pleasure.
In the nearby Val Gardena, a top-class mountain bike trail awaits you: the Sellaronda. Thousands of mountain bikers travel to Val Gardena every summer to take part in the famous Sellaronda Hero, the toughest mountain bike race in the Dolomites. The Sellaronda Bike Day is also one of the most popular cycling events in the mountains. On this day, the four Dolomite passes Gardena, Sella, Pordoi- and Campolongo are reserved exclusively for cyclists.

Climbing & via ferratas

The North Face, the „Pepi- Schmuck-Gedächtnisweg“ (route in memory of Pepi Schmuck) or the trail to the Santner peak: for fans of climbing on the Alpe di Siusi the Santner peak is the queen destination. It’s named after the climber Johann Santner, that on July 2nd in 1880 was the first one who has set foot on the top of the plateau. But not only the Santner peak, the entire Sciliar, offers ideal conditions for climbing.

Worthwhile climbing destinations around the Alpe di Siusi are, among others:

  • Cima Castello Peak / Burgstall
  • Cima delle Ombre Peak / Schattenkofel
  • Cima Mumelterkopf Peak
  • Cima Euringer Peak
  • Cima Klammpfeiler Peak
  • Croda del Maglio / Hammerwand

Paragliding

Taking off, float in the air and admire the mountains of the Dolomites from above. Paragliding in South Tyrol realizes the dream of flying: in company of an experienced driver you can admire the Alpe di Siusi from the perspective of a bird. Equipped with sportswear, and sturdy shoes nothing can obstacle you from the adventure of a flight on the Alpe di Siusi in South Tyrol, because everything else - from the helmet to the rest of the equipment for paragliding - is already organized. Also to ensure good weather the tandem flight team at Alpe di Siusi it is at your disposal. A tandem flight on the Alpe di Siusi is an unforgettable experience not only in summer, but all year round. Even those who are in South Tyrol in winter can float in the air with a paraglider.

Horse riding & sledges

One of the most traditional and most popular sports in leisure activities is to go horse riding through the woods and meadows of the Alpe di Siusi. Anyone planning a holiday on horseback, is located in the homeland of the Haflinger horses: South Tyrol. The horse farms and stables in Castelrotto and on the Alpe di Siusi offer trail rides and riding lessons for beginners and horse lovers. On the back of a Haflinger horse and of ponies you can explore the landscape optimally. The contact with the horses, the care of horses and of course, horse riding, is transmitted by the competent riding instructor of Castelrotto and Alpe di Siusi. Riding lessons for beginners and advanced, excursions (hourly and daily rides), educational riding and horseback riding are always on the program of the stables.

Sights

  • The ruin Hauenstein, the home of the famous minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein, Prösels Castle, the ruin Salegg and Trostburg Castle. Dive into the world of medieval castles in South Tyrol!
  • Churches and chapels in the holiday area Alpe di Siusi testify to the religious tradition of the area and the rural culture of its inhabitants. In addition to the parishes of Fiè allo Sciliar, Siusi and Castelrotto, there are many smaller churches and chapels. Here you can experience reflective moments during your holiday.
  • Farmer’s Museum: the district S. Oswaldo in Castelrotto is located on a fertile plateau that spreads through the rugged slopes of the Isarco Valley. The bullock carts have been replaced by tractors, hand sickles by lawnmowers, the wheat fields have given way to the dairy industry that is more lucrative. Of course, "the old" leaves room for innovation, but many memories of childhood were associated with these old instruments...

  • School Museum Tagusa: the school routine in Tagusa meant for children, no encounter with the outside world. The children in the solitary place knew each other and even teachers were changing from year to year.
  • The herb garden of Martha: the rather small farm "Pflegerhof" is under Siusi in S. Oswaldo. The farmer with his children cultivates herbs and with a lot of care he dries them and they become teas, herbal pillows and even herbal salt.
  • Parish Museum Fiè: the Parish Museum of Fiè is located in the chapel of San Michele at the cemetery. The former chapel of the cemetery shows the sacred art of the late Gothic churches and chapels of this area. The highlight of the Parish Museum of Fiè is the small church of San Pietro.
